The series explores everyday rituals of well-being and rest, translated into painting as an intimate practice. Horizontality becomes a way of inhabiting space: reclining bodies, paused or adrift, star in scenes between wakefulness and sleep that propose an antithesis to the logic of productivity and verticality, reclaiming slowness as a way of being.
The choice of belgian Velázquez linen, associated with the academic tradition of painting, in dialogue with acrylic-gouache, introduces a tension between the hegemonic and the vernacular, questioning the material and technical hierarchies that have defined pictorial practice.
During the development of the series, the rug emerges as an extension of these rest spaces: an everyday element that transfers to the physical space the idea of refuge and rest present in the paintings.
